Baroda did not have an ideal start to the proceedings having lost their opener Kedar Devdhar for a duck in the very first over to Praveen Kumar. Praveen was excellent through the day and was responsible for the wickets of both the openers. However the other opener Aditya Waghmode scored a fifty before losing his wicket. Ambati Rayudu played a fantastic captain’s knock to steady the ship with an unbeaten 70 at stumps. He’ll definitely be eyeing the triple figures and more on the second day. Uttar Pradesh will be aware that he is the backbone and if they dismiss him early, their likeliness of taming Baroda for a small score will double. Apart from Praveen, Saurabh Kumar, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav took one scalp each.
