Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day three of the Group B game of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy between Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, live from Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Day before yesterday, on day one, Tamil Nadu won the toss and decided to bowl first. Uttar Pradesh batted very well and by the end of day’s play were 277 for the loss of four wickets. Suresh Raina and Saurabh Kumar were at the crease batting on 52 and nine respectively. In his 52 -run knock Raina slammed eight beautifully time fours. The left-hander took just 56 balls and blasted those many runs at an amazing strike rate of 92.86. Uttar Pradesh fans would not have asked for a better performance. Earlier in the day, UP bowled out the visitors for 231 runs in 88 overs where Vijay Shankar top scored for Tamil Nadu with his 92 runs in 188 balls. OUT! UP made early breakthroughs with the dismissals of Aswin Crist and Ramaswamy Prasanna. The wicket-takers for UP were Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Praveen Kumar. The last batsman to get dimsissied was Prasanna who scored 32 from 93 balls before giving a catch to Suresh Raina off Praveen’s bowling. OUT! In reply, Tamil Nadu are 174 for 6 at stumps on Day two. They are struggling against a quality Uttar Pradesh attack. On Day three, they will have to come out fresh and with all guns blazing or else they are in danger of Uttar Pradesh taking this game away from them. The match will get interesting if  Tamil Nadu too bat well in their first innings and end up somewhere near Tamil Nadu’s score. 

Uttar Pradesh are currently at fifth position (one place down to Tamil Nadu) in Group B. Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have 16 and 14 points respectively. Both teams have played five matches and won two of those. Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu also drew one, lost one and one game fetched no result due to bad weather.
