Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day four of the Group B game of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy between Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, live from Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The hosts have set a challenging target of  391 for the visitors, who at stumps on Day three were at 5 without no loss. The match has been dominated by Uttar Pradesh from the beginning. On day one, Tamil Nadu won the toss and decided to bowl first. Uttar Pradesh batted very well and by the end of day’s play were 277 for the loss of 4 wickets. Suresh Raina and Saurabh Kumar were at the crease batting on 52 and 9 respectively. However, on Day 2, Uttar Pradesh could manage only 348, as a spirited Tamil Nadu attack made a strong comeback in the match. Meanwhile, the visitors had to settle for just one point. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik remianed unbeaten at stumps of final day for Tamil Nadu. And the four visitors’ wickets were shared between Saurabh Kumar, Ankit Rajpoot and Akshdeep Nath.

In reply to Uttar Pradesh’s 348, Tamil Nadu were 174 for 6 at stumps on Day two. They struggled against a quality Uttar Pradesh attack. On Day three, they were bowled out for 231. In the second innings, skipper Suresh Raina produced a gem-of-an-innings by scoring an unbeaten 138-ball 145. This helped his side set Tamil Nadu a target of 391. Day four will be exciting as Uttar Pradesh would go for a straight win while Tamil Nadu will play for a draw.

Uttar Pradesh are currently at fifth position (one place down to Tamil Nadu) in Group B. Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have 16 and 14 points respectively. Both teams have played five matches and won two of those. Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu also drew one, lost one and one game fetched no result due to bad weather.
