Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the ongoing Group A match in the Ranji Trophy 2015-16, between Vidarbha and Haryana. The match is being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Ground in Jamtha, Nagpur. The Indian and South African batsmen may have found it difficult to score runs at this venue in their third Test which concluded last week, but the Ranji sides competing at present have been able to make merry. Hosts Vidarbha racked up as many as 504 for seven declared, with three of their batsmen getting centuries. In their reply, Haryana started off well as they reached 53 for no loss after 25 overs. Saini has completed his century; he has hit 10 boundaries in his innings. Bishnoi on the other hand is batting patiently on 32 at a strike rate of around 25. Haryana still trails by 402 runs.
It was a fine batting performance from Vidarbha batsmen as they made full use of the situations at their home ground. While Faiz Fazal, Ravi Jangid and Aditya Sarwate scored centuries, opening batsman Aditya Shanware scored a half-century while senior batsman Wasim Jaffer and Jitesh Sharma made significant contributions.
When Haryana came out to bat, Nitin Saini and Chaitanya Bishnoi added 53 runs for the first wicket in 25 overs, signaling that the wicket remains good for batting. Haryana are trailing by another 451 runs in the first innings and they will be looking for a strong performance with the bat on the third day.
Fazal was the top-scorer for Vidarbha with 126 runs, as h faced 266 deliveries and cracked 15 boundaries and a six. Jangid, who was run out for 110, faced 182 balls and smashed nine boundaries and three sixes during his innings. Sarwate remained unbeaten opn 103 not out from 218 balls, striking 10 boundaries and a six.
