Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the fourth and final day of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16 Group A match between Vidarbha and Haryana at the VCA Ground in Nagpur on Friday. Haryana reached a score of 66 for the loss of two wickets at the end of Day Three, needing another 197 runs on the final day in order to avoid an innings defeat. Mohit Hooda and Rohit Sharma were batting on 17 and 3 respectively, with Ravi Jangid having removed both the opening batsmen earlier in the innings. Nitin Saini single-handedly has scored a majority of the runs for his side so far in the innings, getting dismissed for a 55-ball 42 that included six fours and a six. Live cricket score: Haryana 232 | Overs 103.1 | Vidarbha win by an innings and 31 runs to qualify for quarter-final | BATSMEN: Ashish Hooda 0 | Ridiculous brain-freeze from Chahal after 77 balls of gritty batting. He had fought it out but it will not count anymore. For some inexplicable reason he wanted to give Akshay Wakhare the charge, was stumped by the proverbial margin, and that was that. The hero, of course, is Ravi Jangid, who finished with figures of 41-13-59-7 to go with 28-10-44-4 in the first innings. His match figures read an astonishing 69-23-103-11! OUT! Yuzuvendra Chahal st Jitesh Sharma b Akshay Wakhare 0! Follow Karnataka vs Maharashtra here and Bengal vs Assam here
Live cricket score: Haryana 232/9 | Overs 103 | Need 31 to save innings-defeat | BATSMEN: Yuzuvendra Chahal 0, Ashish Hooda 0: Rohit’s brilliant innings comes to an end as Haryana lose their ninth. Chahal is still there with his 76-ball vigil of 0, but he needs support from Ashish Hooda. OUT! Rohit Sharma c Aditya Shanware b Ravi Jangid 107! TEA | Live cricket score: Haryana 231/8 | Overs 97 | Need 32 to save innings-defeat | BATSMEN: Rohit Sharma 106, Yuzuvendra Chahal 0: Vidarbha are so near, yet so far from those 6 (or 7) points. Rohit Sharma has gritted it out, scoring his maiden First-Class hundred, but Yuzuvendra Chahal has probably frustrated them more. Chahal is yet to score a run, but has managed to see off 67 balls. Live cricket score: Haryana 209/8 | Overs 84 | Need 54 to save innings-defeat | BATSMEN: Rohit Sharma 84, Yuzuvendra Chahal 0: Three wickets by Ravi Jangid have given Vidarbha a chance to get those much-needed 6 points. By the look of things, they even look ready for 7. On the other hand, if Haryana save the match, Karnataka and Assam stand with a chance. This is getting interesting. OUT! Shamsher Yadav b Ravi Jangid 5! Priyank Tehlan c Jitesh Sharma b Ravi Jangid 5! Harshal Patel c Jitesh Sharma b Ravi Jangid 9!
Live cricket score: Haryana 161/5 | Overs 29 | BATSMEN: R P Sharma 49(151): At lunch, Haryana trail by 102 runs with five wickets to spare and today being the final day of the match. Jayant Yadav was dimsissed on the last ball bowled before lunch and therefore became Ravi Jangid’s 3rd wicket of the innings. OUT! Jayant Yadav LBW Ravi Jangid 5(35)
Live cricket score: Haryana 90/2 | Overs 29 | BATSMEN: MS Hooda 30(67), RP Sharma 14(37) | MS Hooda nad RP Sharma are the batsmen in the middle. RL Jangid, Akshay Wakhare, and AA Sarvate have bowled so far this innings, but only Jangid has taken a wicket (he has two). Vidarbha on their way to winning this match.
Haryana simply were no match against Vidarbha on the third day’s play after resuming from their overnight score of 53 for no loss. Saini (67 off 157 balls) and Chaitanya Bishnoi (47 off 189 balls) got their side off to a good start with a 118-run opening stand, following which the side began to lose wickets at a regular pace. Barring a spirited half-century by Shamsher Yadav (50 off 86), nobody from the middle or the lower-order could put up much of a fight against the hosts. Jangid and Aditya Sarwate were the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets each for 44 and 50 runs respectively.
