West Indies and Sri Lanka continue from where they left off on Sunday in the fifth match of a tri-nation One-Day series, at Port of Spain. The match was interrupted due to persistent rain and was set to resume on Monday.
At the time of the rain stoppage, Sri Lanka were at 60 for three in 19 overs after having been sent into bat by the West Indies. Lahiru Thirimanne was batting on 13 and Kumar Sangakkara was on 11. Kemar Roach had taken two wickets for 19 runs from his seven overs on Sunday.
The West Indies came into the match after getting thumped by India in the previous match by a huge margin. Sri Lanka, though, enjoyed a resounding victory against India in their previous match in Kingston, Jamaica.
West Indies still sit atop the points table with nine points from three games after winning two matches. Sri Lanka are in second position ahead of India only on the basis of net run rate. They have played two matches and have won one match so far. West Indies need a victory to be certain of qualifying for the final on July 11. Sri Lanka have to win to keep their chances alive.
