Good Afternoon/Morning, नमस्कार, Goeie middag & Tráthnóna maith! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Women’s Quadrangular series 2017. I am Suvajit Mustafi and I will be bringing you the live updates of the day’s play. There will again be two matches played in the tournament today, with India Women taking on Zimbabwe Women at North-West University No1 Ground, Potchefstroom in first match of the day and South Africa Women facing Ireland Women at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom in the second match. India Women are quite comfortably placed at No.1 in the table, followed by South Africa at No.2. Zimbabwe are just a step behind South Africa, while Ireland Women are yet to taste a win in the series.
India have 9 points from 2 games thus far. In their last match, India thrashed hosts South Africa by 7 wickets. Batting first, South Africa could only manage 119 runs, with only four batswomen reaching double digit scores. In reply, India started poorly, losing their opening pair quite cheaply. It was only the pair of Mona Meshram and skipper Mithali Raj that guided the team home.
Amongst all this, Jhulan Goswami also became the leading wicket-taker in WODIs when she recorded figures of 3 for 20.
In the other match of the day, Ireland women posted a below par score of 209 courtesy some big hitting by Shauna Kavanagh. It was a familiar name Precious Marange that stood out with the ball picking up 4 for 32. In reply, Zimbabwe quite comfortably chased down the target thanks to Sharne Mayers and Mary-Anne Musonda, who struck 46 and 65 runs respectively.
