This is the first Test between the two teams and here you will get all the updates of the live actions of Day Two. The match is being played at Harare Sports Club, Harare. Sri Lanka are the favourites of the series despite having a second string team and playing away from home while Zimbabwe urgently need a victory at home after a disappointing series against New Zealand at home. The hosts side will be led by newly appointed captain Graeme Cremer while Rangana Herath is the captain for the visitors for this series. Zimbabwe’s last encounter was with a strong New Zealand side at home. The hosts lost the series 2-0 but there were positives to take from it, the biggest being the innings of Sean Williams. Williams played a heroic knock batting down the order following a top-order collapse and scored his maiden Test ton. The player also bowled economically as well as effectively.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, look stable to get to a good lead after their batting in the first innings. Day One ended in favour of the visitors as they put up a big score of 317 with 6 wickets still in hand. Dimuth Karunaratne provided the team with a good start along with Kaushal Silva. Karunaratne scored 56 while Kaushal remained unfortunate not to get his century remaining short of 5 runs. Kusal Perera went on to score his century. As Day Two’s play commences, Upul Tharanga will bat with Dhananjaya de Silva. For Zimbabwe skipper Cremer picked up 3 wickets while Malcolm Waller bagged one.
