New Zealand face off against former Test champions, England on Day 3 in the first of two-match Test series at Lord’s on Saturday. The Kiwis are in good control of their innings so far trailing by 86 runs with eight wickets safe, after bowling out England for 389 on Day 2. England began Day One on the back foot as they were reduced to 30 for four early on in the innings. Joe Root and Ben Stokes played excellent counter-attacking cricket and went on to put on 161 runs for the fifth wicket, which got England back into the contest. England resumed the day at 354 for seven and were bowled out for 389, adding just 35 runs to their overnight score. Moeen Ali, who was batting on 49 at the end of Day One, was dismissed for 58, but England narrowly fell short of the 400-run mark. Trent Boult and Matt Henry finished with four wickets apiece.
