    Captain’s corner

Williamson: “We will bowl first. Not sure about the surface, it’s an 8-over game, but at the end of the day, the better team will win. It’s a decider, we have to show plenty of intensity with the ball. One change, Tim Southee replaces Adam Milne.”

Kohli: “We would have bowled first, looks like a damp wicket, there was no sun and there’s some moisture on the surface. We will have to put up a big score and then restrict them. The crowd has waited patiently and deserve to see a game. Two changes, Axar and Siraj miss out, Manish Pandey and Kuldeep are in.”

    Players to watch out for

Boult took a four-for and yet lost the Player of the Match award to the centurion Latham at Mumbai. He again took 4 wickets at Rajkot, but the Munro, with his hundred, wicket (and catch), took the cake (although pies are easier to carry). For that matter, these are the only matches that New Zealand emerged victorious in. India need to be wary of the lightening Boult.

If Bhuvi has a bad day, Bumrah makes up for him. If Bumrah does not take a wicket, Bhuvi finds a way to provide breakthroughs. India cannot ask for a better pace pair. New Zealand, however, have been shrewd with their approach. They do not give away wickets to Bhuvi and Bumrah so they can keep wickets in hand to attack the others.

  • 6:48 PM IST

And covers are back. New Zealand have not turned up yet, while India are in the dug-out.

  • 6:37 PM IST

New Zealand dropped Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli at Mumbai. They conceded 154 runs for their blunders. They lost the match, also losing the No. 1 spot to Pakistan.

India emulated their opposition’s mistakes at Rajkot. Bhuvneshwar Kumar spilled Colin Munro’s pull at deep mid-wicket. To be fair, Bhuvi did well to restrict the ball from going for six. Munro took a run and reached 36. Shreyas Iyer then dropped a regulation (by modern-day fielding standards) catch at long-on. Munro went on to become the first player to hit a hundred against India in their own den, helping New Zealand square the series.

Good evening! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of India vs New Zealand 2017-18. This is the third and final T20I of the ongoing series and I, Kaustubh Mayekar, will bring to you all the live scores and updates from the match. The series is squared 1-1 currently with India winning the first T20I and New Zealand winning the one that followed and the deciding T20I will be the perfect end to this exciting series.

The first T20I was a historic one for India, as the hosts posted their first ever victory against New Zealand in the format. However, the visitors made a strong comeback, registering a comfortable 40-run win in the second T20I. Records were broken as Colin Munro scored his second century in the format and efforts from Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni could not save India from the defeat. The Indian batting line-up failed miserably with only Kohli, Dhoni and Shreyas Iyer scoring runs in double figures.

Earlier, India had won the ODI series 2-1. That, too, was a close series as both sides played competitive and commendable cricket to take it to the last match. The match is important from New Zealand’s perspective as upon winning, they will again become the top-ranked side in the format. India’s position will remain unchanged. However, there are chances of rain interrupting the match as per the weather forecast.
