Hello, good evening and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post of the match No. 45 in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The game will be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, and this is Vishal Mehra bringing you the live cricket scores and updates’ post of the contest. For Mumbai Indians, one more win in the tournament will take them through to the IPL 10 play-offs stage, but for the Delhi Daredevils, the race to the final four is as intense as it can get. Delhi Daredevils need to win all remaining contests to make it to the next round. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Mumbai Indians (MI), IPL 10 Match 45
Given the form that Mumbai Indians are in, it will be a tough ask for the Delhi Daredevils. In 10 matches played so far, the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have won 8 matches. Mumbai Indians have a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.427, and have 16 points — the most for any team — in the IPL 10 points table. While Mumbai Indians continue to remain at the top of the IPL 10 points table, Delhi Daredevils are languishing at the sixth spot.
Delhi Daredevils too have played 10 matches, but with 4 wins and 6 defeats, they have a poor NRR of 0.03 and a total of 8 points. Teams generally need more than 16 points or a high NRR to make it to the next round, and Delhi Daredevils have their task cut out for them for Saturday night.
While Mumbai Indians have one of the strongest outfits, Delhi Daredevils have some of most exciting Indian cricketers, such as Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. Both these young batsmen have dazzled in this IPL 2017 with their batting. While Samson is one of the very few batsmen who have scored centuries in this IPL, Pant played one of the most thrilling innings seen in the history of the tournament in Delhi Daredevils’ previous game, against Gujarat Lions.
In that game, Samson smashed 61 off a mere 31 balls with 7 boundaries but the star of Delhi Daredevils’ win was Pant. The left-hander went berserk, smacking 9 sixes and 6 fours to make 97 off a mere 43 balls. It was due to their innings that Delhi Daredevils, chasing a huge target of 209, cruised to a 7-wicket victory, making 214 for 3 in 17.3 overs.
