KXIP are sitting pretty at the first position after winning two matches by big margins. KXIP began IPL 2017 with a 6-wicket win over Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and hammered Gujarat Lions (GL) by an even better margin of 8 wickets. KXIP have shown tremendous discipline with both bat and ball, but what has stood out for the Glenn Maxwell-led team is the approach in chases, with the captain playing two crucial unbeaten innings to mark a positive start. KXIP have 4 points in 2 matches with a net run-rate (NRR) of 1.598.
On the other hand, KKR are one of the three teams so far who have played only two matches in IPL 10 at this stage. KKR have had a mixed start with one victory and a defeat, but their 10-wicket mauling of Gujarat Lions in their opener ensures they have a very healthy run-rate. KKR have NRR of 1.279 despite a 4-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in their second match, a game in which KKR made plenty of errors to lose from a position of winning.
KKR are currently sweating over the fitness of Chris Lynn who had injured his shoulder a few minutes after he was honoured with the Orange Cap. Lynn smacked a 41-ball 93 not out in the first game and, in the next, he scored 32 to mark an excellent start to IPL. Lynn has suffered injuries to his shoulder several times.
