  • 11:28 PM IST

Samson, man of the match: Very happy for the team. Feel very blessed to be a pert of the team. Rahul Dravid, Paddy Upton keep supporting me. Very keen to finish matches and help my team win. Really enjoyed my fielding and batting today.

  • 11:17 PM IST

Rahane: Thought 180-190 would be a good score on this wicket. Our bowlers in the middle bowled really well. Last 2-3 overs they suddenly picked up momentum. In T20, you have to learn from your past innings and move on. We have to believe in ourselves and move forward from this one.

  • 11:16 PM IST

ALL OVER! Dinda is the last man out and DD register a massive 97-run win after bowling RPS out for 108. Amit Mishra and and Zaheer Khan were the pick of the bowlers, with 3 wickets apiece. but the day belongs to Sanju Samson, who scored 102 off just 63 deliveries. Not to forget valuable contributions from Chris Morris 38* (9), Rishabh Pant 31 (22).

  • 11:09 PM IST

RPS 107/9 in 16 overs, Target 206: Mishra is on again now. he removes Zampa after the Australian fails to connect a sweep to mid-wicket. With 1 wicket to go, 99 to get off 27, it is time for the strategic time out. Another good over from Mishra. He has figures of 3 for 11 from his 3 overs

  • 11:06 PM IST

RPS 106/8 in 15 overs, Target 206: Zaheer brings himself back. Chahar’s little cameo comes to an end after he is caught behind. He struck two clean sixes earlier. Dinda edges one to the first slip, where Karun takes a blinder, but the replays showed that the ball touched the ground after he grabbed it. Dinda however keeps the crowd on their toes with a beautiful shot over covers. DD now just a couple of wickets away from registering a big win and getting off the mark in the tournament.

  • 10:59 PM IST

RPS 100/7 in 14 overs, Target 206: Bhatia’s innings too comes to an end and Amit Mishra, who was on a hat-trick, misses out on his 4th hat-trick, just about. Zampa and Chahar at the crease. Chahar has struck a couple of big ones already. Can he do it again? 100 up for RPS. Something to cheer about for them finally.

  • 10:56 PM IST

RPS 94/6 in 13 overs, Target 206: Morris now into the attack. This is a good time for anyone to bowl. We might even see Sanju Samson roll his arm over a bit, maybe pick up a wicket to go with his century. Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar smashes Morris over the mid-wicket fence. SIX MORE! Another clean hit from Chahar and this time over the cover boundary. 15 from that over.

  • 10:50 PM IST

RPS 79/6 in 12 overs, Target 206: What a time for Amit Mishra to come on! Dhoni perishes and we will soon see a few more empty seats in the crowd now. Mishra is on the money throughout the over and the RPS now need to score over 16 an over to win from here. Will RPS go past 100 at least. They need to score as many as they can. The Net Run-Rate might play a huge part in the end.

  • 10:47 PM IST

RPS 76/5 in 11 overs, Target 206: Nadeem continues. He has yet again been brilliant. Boundaries have been hard to come by. RPS just happy to play Nadeem out. Required run-rate goes over 14. But Dhoni has had enough. The change of bat helps as he smashes the ball over the long off fence. believe it or nor, Bhatia still has more runs than Dhoni and also a better strike-rate. Ndeem finishes with figure of 1 for 23 in his 4 overs.

  • 10:43 PM IST

RPS 68/5 in 10 overs, Target 206: Corey Anderson now into the attack. Was just a spectator for most part of his innings. Can he do some damage with the ball now? Bhatia is outscoring Dhoni at the moment. Who would have thought that? Definitely did not think I’d say that when I began my day today. WOW! Bhatia smashes the ball over the mid-wicket fence. That has surely woken up a few in the crowd.

  • 10:39 PM IST

My colleague Chinmay states the obvious, but hey, it has to be said

  • 10:37 PM IST

RPS 58/5 in 9 overs, Target 206: Nadeem continues. DD are now eyeing a huge win. Dhoni and Bhatia just strolling down for singles, which will not bother DD one bit. Another brilliant over from Nadeem and the required run-rate now is past 13. Strategic time-out! Wonder what the RPS camp will discuss.

  • 10:33 PM IST

RPS 55/5 in 8 overs, Target 206: The required run-rate has gone past 12 and RPS really need to start finding the fence. Cummins bowled a good over and made it difficult for the batsmen to get him away easily. RPS in further trouble as Stokes inside edges one to Pant. This match could be over very, very soon. Zaheer has really led his troops brilliantly today. Everything going right for him and DD. Rajat Bhatia is the new batsman.

  • 10:28 PM IST

RPS 52/4 in 7 overs, Target 206: Nadeem back into the attack. Ben Stokes walked in at No. 5 after Tripathi’s dismissal. But Faf is the latest victim. He tried to play a cheeky scoop, but finds the outside edge and Pant takes a really sharp catch. Well, RPS’ innings is in disarray to say the least as MS Dhoni walks out to the crease. What can he do now? Nadeem to Dhoni! Two Jharkhand buddies catching up. Brilliant over from Nadeem. Just 2 runs and a wicket off that.

  • 10:23 PM IST

Huge compliment coming in from Baz!

  • 10:22 PM IST

RPS 50/3 in 6 overs, Target 206: Morris continues. FOUR! Tripathi faces his first ball in the IPL and drives it through the covers for a boundary. Morris follows that up with a wide down the leg side. FOUR MORE! Tripathi cuts this time and the ball races to the third man boundary. Tripathi is suddenly on 8 off 2! DD are certainly in command at the end of the powerplay. Tripathi too has thrown his wicket away. Top edge to off a short delivery and Nadeem takes it with ease running in from fine leg. RPS have lost one wicket more than they would have liked at this juncture.

  • 10:17 PM IST

RPS 38/2 in 5 overs, Target 206: Zaheer continues. Faf survives a scare at the non-striker’s end. Had Cummins had hit the wickets, Faf would have been walking back to the pavilion with a single digit score before his name. But Zaheer strikes again! An off cutter deceives Agarwal and he just lobs the ball in the air and Morris at extra cover takes am easy catch. RPS in deep trouble now. Rahul Tripathi is the new batsman. However, Faf ends the cover with a glorious drive to the fence.

  • 10:12 PM IST

RPS 31/1 in 4 overs, Target 206: Chris Morris is now into the attack. Can he get a wicket in his first over after his cameo with the bat. However, Agarwal is looking in good touch. He guides the ball to the third man fence, where Samson misfields and concedes a boundary. Faf du Plessis has walked in at No. 3 after Rahane’s wicket. Good over from Morris, concedes just 7.

  • 10:08 PM IST

RPS 24/1 in 3 overs, Target 206: Zaheer Khan brings himself into the attack for the first time. Beautiful drive from Rahane fetches him two, but Samson fielded brilliantly to save two more runs for his team. He now suddenly wishes that that could be added to his tally. But skipper Rahane throws his wicket away, he miscues one shot, looking to go over the bowler’s head, but it’s that man Samson once again, who pouches it. Disappointing end to the innings or Rahane

  • 10:02 PM IST

RPS 17/0 in 2 Overs, Target 206: Pat Cummins to bowl the second over. RPS running well between the wickets. They need to convert ones into twos more often if RPS are to have a sniff in this match. Woah! We also have Sam Billings mimicking Danny Morrison. He’s not that bad, actually. RPS meanwhile have quietly scored 17 off the first two overs, with minimum risk.

  • 9:57 PM IST

RPS 10/0 in 1 0ver, Target 206: Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal open the batting for RPS. Shahbaz Nadeem opens the bowling for DD. RPS start well, Agarwal punishes a short ball by cutting it to the fence. Good first over for RPS, they collect 10 from it.

  • 9:52 PM IST

What a knock from Samson initially and then Morris added a cherry on the top with some insane hitting. Can RPS chase this down though? Someone in their top-order needs to put their hand up and bat through. RPS will surely miss Smith in this chase, although the likes of Faf, Rahane, Stokes and Dhoni can chase down any total on their day. DD however cannot afford to sit back and relax. They have to be on the money right from the first ball.

  • 9:43 PM IST

Here’s how Twitter exploded after Samson and Morris stole the show

  • 9:38 PM IST

DD 205/4 in 20 overs: Stokes bowls the final over. Morris has played a brilliant cameo so far. DD certainly have the upper hand here. Last 4 overs have turned the game on its head. Morris has played just 9 bals and he has finished with 38 runs from those overs. 23 have come off the final over, DD set RPS target of 206.

  • 9:33 PM IST

DD 182/4 in 19 overs: Zampa bowls the crucial penultimate over. SIX! Samson clears the straight boundary with ease and Samson brings up his first T20 century off just 62 deliveries. BOWLED HIM! Zampa bowls the flipper, breaches Samson’s defence. What a brilliant innings from Samson. He has pit DD in a good position now. Samson eventually goes for 102 off 63 balls. Chris Morris is the new batsman and he goes inside out to collect a boundary off his first delivery. SIX MORE! Morris this time smashes over the deep mid-wicket fence. FOUR MORE to end the over, 22 off that Zampa over. Zampa finishes with 1 for 45 in his 4 overs.

  • 9:28 PM IST

Corey Anderson has just been a spectator at the other end. Hope he has not fallen asleep!

  • 9:27 PM IST

DD 160/3 in 18 overs: Dinda back into the attack. Dinda is welcomed with a six right back over his head. He goes again in the 4th ball of the over and moves into the 90s. He is well within sight of his maiden IPL ton. What an innings it has been so far. To add insult to injury, he weeps Dinda past the short fine leg fielder as well. Samson is now on 96. 19 off that over from Dinda.

  • 9:22 PM IST

DD 141/3 in 17 overs: Tahir bowls his final over. He has been absolutely terrific today. Can you believe he went unsold in the auction this time? However, Samson finally picks a wrong one from Tahir this time and dispatches him over the mid-wicket fence. Samson is looking in terrific touch. Can he get a century from here. 12 from Tahir’s final over, he finishes with figures of 1 for 24 in his 4 overs.

Good Evening. शुभ संध्या! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates of Match 8 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 between Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and Delhi Daredevils (DD). The match will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. I, Pramod Ananth, will bring you all the live posts from the match. RPS have had a great start to their IPL 10 journey with a victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first match but lost the next to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). DD, on the other hand, have lost the only match they have played and will look to bag their first victory. Full Cricket Scorecard, Rising Pune Supergiant vs Delhi Daredevils, IPL 2017, Match 9

Playing at home ground, RPS will surely have the upper hand. Skipper Steven Smith performed exceptionally well in the first match, scoring a 54-ball 84 that took the side to victory. He will be expected to replicate such performance for the team to ensure a good score on the board. They have batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane and Ben Stokes and a finisher in MS Dhoni as well, all of whom will have to raise the bar to stay ahead in the race. Their bowling is strengthened by the presence of Imran Tahir and Rajat Bhatia.

For DD, victory is even more important as they have not won any match as of yet. However, they have played only one and have time to bounce back in the tournament with many games left. Zaheer Khan and Chris Morris will have to be the two bowlers to watch out for, while all eyes will be on Rishabh Pant after his magnificent knock against RCB.
