Did we just see Brian Lara take the field and smash the winning runs for KKR? What an identical stroke from Darren Bravo, copying his idol. With a blistering cut, he steers KKR to a 7-wicket win.

After Robbie-Gautam added 158 runs for the second wicket, it was never going to be easy for RPS. They posted a little less than what they would have liked and their ordinary bowling and sloppy fielding brought them to the mat. After three back-to-back triumphs, RPS concede another victory to KKR. They are yet to win a game vs KKR. Uthappa’s aggressive and noticeable knock took the encounter away from the hosts. Credit to Gambhir and KKR spinners as well. Overall, another quality performance from the visitors. A lot is clicking for them on the field courtesy the hard work put in by their team management. They move to the top of the tables and Gambhir can relax and go for a quick shower ahead of the post-match presentation.

Robin Uthappa is surely the Man of the Match for his 47-ball 87. That’s it from us. Do join us for the virtual eliminator for both RCB and GL from M Chinnaswammy Stadium tomorrow. Goodnight!

Wickets tumbling but what is the use now? Gambhir falls for a well-made 62 with KKR needing only 4 runs to pull off an easy victory in Pune.

  • 11:09 PM IST
With Stokes not being in the team, RPS always had to post something close to or in excess of 200. KKR pulled things back courtesy their spinners in the last 3 overs but the game was done in the middle overs for RPS when they dropped catches, missed chances and were hammered in all corners of the park by Uthappa. Gambhir has stitched an important innings in his 100th game for KKR. He finally loses Uthappa, trying to finish the ball, as Unadkat rolled his fingers across the seam but the writing is on the wall. Too late for RPS.

Uthappa goes for a cracking 47-ball 87. My Man of the Match easily.

Match summary wrapped up beautifully by Mr Bhogle!

  • 11:06 PM IST

  • 11:04 PM IST

A one-way traffic now! Dane Christian was brought into the attack and he went hay wired with some wides and four off Gambhir’s blade. 12 coming off this over as well as the equation reads only 24 off 30 balls.

  • 10:58 PM IST

This is done and dusted for the hosts. KKR certainly the better side here. RPS weren’t able to get 200 on board and missed Stokes amidst sloppy fielding. Gambhir has stood his ground and carved out a typical captain’s innings whereas Uthappa has come out all guns blazing to take the match away from the opposition since his arrival. Another expensive over as Tahir goes for 12 runs, including a customary six this time coming from Gambhir’s blade.

  • 10:51 PM IST

RPS have lost this. Only Stokes could have done something and he is just a mere spectator tonight. Shardul Thakur comes into the attack but does nothing worthwhile. 12 coming off the over as the equation has turned out to be 48 off 42 balls. Thakur couldn’t grip the ball which missed the 22-yard circle to give a 5wide to spoil the over further. Second time-out taken. Let’s see how much this helps the hosts.

There is no stopping KKR courtesy Robin Uthappa. He brings up his third fifty of the tenth edition. He is firing on all cylinders. He has timed everything from the middle of the blade and smoked them to the fence. He has played the cross shots perfectly, came to the pitch of the ball, swept and flicked without much disdain. What more can one ask for? Meanwhile, Gambhir is still ‘Gambhir’ in the other end and not looking to do anything silly. RPS are not helping themselves with sloppy fielding as well. KKR cruising…

  • 10:35 PM IST

Runs are not looking to stop here. Uthappa-Gambhir are blazing along with boundaries off every over. Unadkat missed his lines and was hammered 14 runs off the 10th over. At halfway stage, KKR need 82 off 60 balls. Uthappa is taking the match away from the opposition with smart and aggressive batting.

  • 10:30 PM IST

Another expensive over for KKR. Uthappa is racing away towards a match-winning score here versus Pune. He is getting into the length of the ball and middling the ball perfectly. Gambhir is playing the second fiddle smartly as well. This pair is looking threatening now. RPS need a few good overs to pull things back and trigger a collapse.

  • 10:26 PM IST

Suddenly, after a good start, RPS drifting apart. KKR piled up 11 runs off Tahir and tok on Washington Sundar to add 20 runs from the 8th over. Uthappa is timing the ball with the sweet part of the bat and playing it wisely as well. His deft touches have been a treat to watch. He started with a four and followed it with back-to-back sixes. Gambhir getting into the act as well with some timely strokes as the pair add 50+ for the second wicket. KKR moving along now…

  • 10:23 PM IST

Is there something called ‘bloggers’ curse’ also? I just mentioned that RPS have lifted their fielding and Unadkat missed a sitter to give a reprieve to Uthappa. Imran Tahir came and kept it tight for the first three balls to inject a big shot off the right-hander, but the ploy tanked courtesy Unadkat. To add to Tahir’s woes, Gambhir smacked one down the ground for a straight four and piled 11 runs off the 7th over.

  • 10:17 PM IST

A brilliantly executed deft touch from Uthappa started Dane Christian’s over with a four. Nonetheless, the Aussie all-rounder kept it tight for the remaining part to end his first over conceding only 7 runs. We head into the first strategic time-out in KKR’s innings with them being 45 for 1 after 6.

  • 10:12 PM IST

10 coming off the 5th over with a blistering four off Gambhir towards cover point region. The duo looking good together. Washington Sundar has done a good job bowling in the powerplay overs by keeping it tight but missed his lengths on a few occasions.

  • 10:09 PM IST

Another tidy over from RPS. This has been the reason for their rise lately. They have stuck to their lines and lifted their fielding. Thakur finishes off the over keeping it down to only 7 runs. However, Uthappa helped himself to a trademark flick and earned his first four to get going. This pair needs to bat for long and ease the job for the middle order.

  • 10:06 PM IST
I was of the opinion that Smith could resort to Imran Tahir and frustrate Narine early in the innings. It would have been interesting to see how he would have faced Tahir on a not-so-fast outfield like Eden Gardens. Nonetheless, Smith brought in Washington Sundar, probably to hold up Tahir for later, and he kept it tight to cause a run-out. A quick throw from SHardul Thakur, cheekily supported by Dhoni, led to Narine’s depature as Uthappa comes out in the middle. Only 3 runs coming off the over.

P.s. Dhoni is the only wicketkeeper to know his off stump so well. How many times will he trigger such smart dismissals? Great presence of mind. HATSOFF
  • 9:59 PM IST

Shardul Thakur finishes an eventful over. Narine smacked him for two back-to-back fours as Narine is again at it. He milked one beautiful drive and followed it with another chancy four. KKR off to a good start as they pile up 10 runs off the over.

  • 9:53 PM IST

Jaydev Unadkat starts the proceedings for RPS. He started with a brilliant ball which swung after pitching to outfox Narine. Unadkat tested Narine with a short ball but was flashed hard by the West Indian for four. Overall, 8 coming from the over as both the openers are off the mark…

  • 9:37 PM IST

An entertaining final over bowled by Umesh. 12 coming off the over as RPS shift momentum towards their end with some big blows towards the last ten balls. Umesh resorted to the full and widish off lengths apart from the yorkers. He started by conceding a six as Smith notched up another impressive fifty. Christian fell off the last ball, a low full toss, but they have managed to get over 180. Will they be happy with this total? They have to be wary of Narine’s early blitz and finishing skills of Pandey on this ground. With Stokes not playing, it will be a huge task for the home side. I reckon they must have aimed for 200. Rahul, Rahane, Dhoni got starts before Smith stood till the last ball. Christian’s vital cameo put the final nail in the coffin to give his bowlers something to defend. Will they make it four out of four and earn their first victory over KKR? Join us during KKR’s reply…

  • 9:28 PM IST

  • 9:26 PM IST

It was all going well for Woakes and KKR before Christian smashed a brilliant six off an expected wide and off length delivery and backed it up with another maximum towards deep mid wicket. Overall, RPS pick up 18 runs from the penultimate over. They finally get a move on after Narine-Kuldeep blitz. Let’s see how many they gather from the final over.

  • 9:21 PM IST

Kuldeep Yadav has turned the complexion of the innings single handedly. He was brave to outfox Dhoni with flight knowing the former Indian skipper will come down the track. Smith took a single to bring in-form Manoj Tiwary in the middle. He was left perplexed with the wrong ‘un as well and missed the ball completely. His back leg was short of the crease to make things easy for Uthappa. Two big setbacks for RPS. They need Smith to play out the overs and get to a challenging score. Kudos to Gambhir as well for holding back Kuldeep in the death overs and giving him license to fire on all cylinders.

  • 9:15 PM IST

Just what Narine does best here in the death over. He bowls the 18th one and concedes only 7 runs to finish his quota of overs with figures of 4-0-34-1. Something waiting to happen in the next one. RPS need more than 30 runs from the last three.

Hello, good evening and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates post for the Match No. 30 in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, between the rejuvenated Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This is Aditya Sahay, and I will be bringing you the live cricket scores and updates of the clash between RPS and KKR. Although KKR did not portray the best of the batting display against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), their bowling have been top-class with the overseas troops rising to the occasion. As for the bowlers, pacers like Chris Woakes, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Colin de Grandhomme have bolstered their options. Full Cricket Scorecard, Rising Pune Supergiant vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2017, Match 30

However, the match-winner of the previous game, Coulter-Nile is rested for the RPS clash to ensure he remains fit for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, RPS will be aiming to improve their Net Run Rate of -0.627 as they are placed at the fourth spot in the IPL 10 points table and the heat is intensifying for the race to the final four with every passing game. However, RPS batsmen will have to fire in tandem, which has not been the case so far. Rahul Tripathi has been the most consistent batsman alongwith Ajinkya Rahane, while Steven Smith have got the starts but the big scores have eluded him. Stokes might have shown credibility with ball but is yet to achieve consistency. The same can be said for MS Dhoni, who failed with the bat in their previous match.

Rising Pune Supergiant’s bowlers, however, have covered up in absence of Ravichandran Ashwin. Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat and now Washington Sundar along with Dan Christian are moving in tandem at the right time. The next six days could make or break the RPS campaign, unless they carry forward the momentum built from their three-match winning streak.

As for the overall head-to-head records, KKR are ahead winning both home and away matches. RPS will look to draw level with KKR, especially with both teams looking to consolidate their position in the IPL 10 points table.
