Highlight Australia vs England 2nd ODI Score And Match Updates: Australia defeated England by a massive margin of 72 runs to win the three-match ODI series by the lead of 2-0. Aussies batting first scored 280 runs and then bowled out the Moeen Ali-led English side on 208 runs.
Both Australia and England came to the match with their stand-in skippers. Hazlewood was commanding the Aussies while Ali took the charge of the English side. Warner and Travis Head gave team a good start and were progressing the scoreboard at a good pace.
However, Moeen Ali dismissed Warner to end the partnership and Woakes dismissed Travis Head to send both Aussie openers back in the batting powerplay itself. England were constantly building pressure but Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne’s 101 runs partnership helped Aussies recover from early blows.
Rashid dismissed Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey on two consecutive deliveries and brought England back in game. Then Smith joined a crucial partnership with Mitchell Marsh. However, he missed his century by just 6 runs.
The English bowling made a great comeback and grabbed a couple of wickets in the death overs to restrict Aussies on a low score but Ashton Agar score 16 runs in the final over to help AUS put 280 runs on the scoreboard. Mitchell Marsh got out after completing his half century but Agar helped AUS finish good. Rashid grabbed 3 wickets, while Woakes and Willey grabbed two wickets each.
England came out to chase 281 runs but didn’t get the perfect start as they lost their first two wickets in the first five balls itself. Mitchell Starc dismissed both Jason Roy and Dawid Malan in the first over itself. Phil Salt fired some good shots but got out after a small cameo.
The English hopes were kept alive by Sam Billings and James Vince. Their centurion partnership kept England in game but it was all Australia following their departure. Aussies bowled them out by the 39th over itself. Both Starc and Zampa grabbed 4 wickets each.
