Highlights Netherlands vs Ecuador, FIFA World Cup 2022: Netherlands and Ecuador play out an entertaining 1-1 draw in Group A of the FIFA World Cup 2022. The draw also means Qatar become the first team in this year’s competition to be eliminated. The Dutch top group with four points. Ecuador too are at four points but have inferior goal difference to be at second. Netherlands started the game in dominating fashion with an 16th minute lead through Cody Gakpo. This was Gakpo’s second goal in the tournament. Ecuador tried their luck in the first half but to no avail. Pervis Estupinan did equalise for Ecuador at the stroke of half time but the goal was ruled out by VAR. However, La Tri came back strongly in the second half and scored the equaliser through captain Enner Valencia. Thereafter both teams tried their best but failed to make any impact. The Netherlands need just a draw in their final group game against Qatar to make to the next round while for Ecuador, it’s a must win game as they need to beat Senegal next to qualify for the knockouts. Senegal defeated Qatar earlier in the day to keep their hopes alive.
