Australian spin legend Shane Warne’s partner Liz Hurley tossed the coin at Melbourne’s first Big Bash blockbuster.
The British actress wasn’t a lucky charm for her fiance, as Sydney Thunder won the toss against Melbourne Stars.
It was Warne’s first appearance on Australian soil since the 2006/07 season and the crowd was excited when he walked out on to the famous turf at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Warne kissed his fiancee, who was in a figure hugging blue dress, before the toss.
Hurley was accompanied by her son, Damian, and Warne’s children Brooke, Summer and Jackson.
‘Coin tossed. Our side lost but wanted to bat first anyway. Phew,’ Hurley tweeted.
Warne told Fox Sports: ‘It was great for the kids and great for Elizabeth to toss the coin and experience her first time at the MCG.’
Cricket Australia (CA) public affairs general manager Peter Young said officials wanted to bring fans into the game.
‘We’ve invested quite a lot in better cameras, better equipment and some specialist television production people so we have far more crowd shots during the day and far more members of the Melbourne public will see themselves on the big screen,’ Young was quoted as saying in the Australian media.(IANS)
