Rain forces an early lunch as New Zealand finish the session at 77 for 2 in second Test, Day One against Pakistan at Hamilton. There was very early drama in the match, when Jeet Raval was dropped in the second ball of the match off Mohammad Aamer. That did not however deter Aamer from getting rid of Tom Latham for a first-ball duck off the final ball of the first over. Sami Aslam, who had dropped the catch earlier in the over, grabbed it this time. Raval and Kane Williamson added some stability to the innings when they came together. But Williamson was caught behind off the bowling of Sohail Khan. The umpire had initially turned the appeal down, but after it was referred, the TV umpire saw a spike on the sinckometer and reversed the on-field decision. Ross Taylor came in at No. 4 and immediately got going. He was looking to score a boundary at every opportunity and put the pressure back on the Pakistan bowlers. He has been successful so far. Rava at the other end is keeping his end tight, playing the ball on its merit. Pakistan would be disappointed not to add to their tally, but will come back stronger in the second session. Tayor and raval have scored at a quick pace and will look to keep it up when play resumes after lunch.
Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bowl first. There was a slight delay as there were some showers in the morning, but the umpires and players got on with the toss soon after the rain had receded. In the absence of regular skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali will lead Pakistan in this match. Both New Zealand and Pakistan have made changes to their XI. New Zealand have roped in Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner in place of Trent Boult and Todd Astle. Live Cricket Updates, New Zealand vs Pakistan, 2nd Test

Brief Scores:
