Lyca Kovai Kings overpower Karaikudi Kaalai to win the match by 6 wickets

Lyca Kovai Kings came out on top in their tie against Karaikudi Kaalai as they won the match by 6 wickets in what was a thrilling last over finish. Karaikudi Kaalai could manage to score only 158 runs in their 20 overs and at one point, it looked like the Lyca Kovai Kings will chase down the total comfortably, but that wasn’t the case. Their openers, B Anirudh Sita Ram and L Suryaprakash, gave them a solid start and added 87 runs in just 11 overs for the first-wicket partnership.
The partnership was finally broken by R Rajkumar, who got rid of Anirudh Sita Ram for 45. One brings two and this time around, it was Suresh Babu who got Pradosh Ranjan back in the pavilion. Two wickets in two overs and the Lyca Kovai Kings were in some trouble.
27 runs came off the next 3 overs, but they also lost the important wicket of Suryaprakash, who had played a terrific knock of 60. S Mohan Prasath, then, bowled a gem of an over as he gave away just 5 runs and also picked up the wicket of Harish Kumar. Now, the equation was 27 from 3 overs and the responsibility was on the shoulders of JS Mohammad and Ravi Kumar Rohith to take their team over the line. The duo exactly did the same as they chased down the target without any further loss of wickets and steered their team to a 6-wicket win.
Earlier in the day, Karaikudi Kaalai were provided a solid platform by Srikkanth Anirudha and S Badrinath. After losing M Vijay Kumar in the second over, these two batted brilliantly and stitched a valuable partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket. However, once they lost the wicket of Badrinath, the wickets kept falling at regular intervals and from 107 for 2, they slipped down to 133 for 6.
In the end, it was a quickfire 21 off just 12 balls from Chandrasekar Ganapathy, which helped KaraiKudi Kaalai to reach 158 in their 20 overs. Krishnamoorthy Vignesh and JS Mohammad picked up 2 wickets each for Lyca Kovai Kings, as a tight bowling performance helped them to restrict the opposition to a below par total.
