Lyca Kovai Kings will go up against Albert TUTI Patriots in 8th match of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) fixture at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Murali Vijay, who was with the Indian Test team in the West Indies might start this game and will also be the key player for Kovai Kings. He is an excellent T20 player as he has shown is class in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for various franchises over the years. He also led Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for a few games in the previous IPL season and will look to be as successful as he was with his new team as he was with KXIP. He performed well in the previous match of Lyca Kovai Kings which went right down to the super over. Though, Vijay could not win the game for his side despite hitting a six in the superover.
Patriots’ skipper Dinesh Karthik is currently playing in the Duleep Trophy, as a result of which Kaushik Gandhi will lead the side in this match. The Tamil Nadu players have the option of playing in the TNPL, if they are not picked in the Duleep Trophy, but Karthik has been picked and will miss out in this game.
They will hope that their fortunes turn around this time around and they manage to get over the ine and get off the mark in the tournament. But it will not be easy as the Tuti Patriots won their first match by a massive 45 runs against Chepauk Super Gillies. With Karthik out of the side their batting lacks depth and experience which would have helped them in the long run.
