Mahela Jayawardene first fielder to take 200 catches in ODIs

Sri Lankan player Mahela Jayawardene has become the first fielder to claim 200 catches in ODIs after he caught Shikhar Dhawan in the slips on Tuesday.
Jayawardene who is known as one of the safest hands in the Sri Lankan team achieved the feat in the ongoing match against India. While there have been a few wicketkeepers who hold the distinction, Jayawardene is the first fielder to achieve the feat. The other players who are behind Jayawardene are Ricky Ponting (160), Mohammad Azharuddin (156), Sachin Tendulkar (140), Stephen Fleming (133), all of whom have retired from the 50-over version.
While Jayawardene tops the list, the other Sri Lankans who have a formidable record are Muttiah Muralitharan with 130 catches and Sanath Jayasuriya with 123 catches.
