Mahela Jayawardene reminded me of my batting style: Gundappa Viswanath

Viswanath said that he would never miss watching Jayawardene bat.

Former Indian batsman Gundappa Viswanath praised Mahela Jayawardene’s batting, and said that watching him bat was like seeing himself bat. Jayawardene is currently playing his last Test match against Pakistan at Colombo.

“I never missed an opportunity to see him bat, whether on the ground or on television. On many occasions, it was like seeing myself with the willow.”, Viswanath said in an interview with The Hindu.

“The way he cut and square-cut, he played the ball so late, almost from the gloves of the wicket-keeper, it is such a joy to watch. Jayawardene is someone who uses the crease particularly well.”, he added.
