Maiden call-up for England’s Olly Stone for Sri Lanka ODIs

Warwickshire fast bowler Olly Stone was handed his maiden international call up to the England limited over squad for the tour of Sri Lanka starting October 10 at Dambulla.

ECB also included Ben Stokes and Alex Hales in the Eoin Morgan-led side, day after the board charged the duo with bringing cricket into disrepute.

The pair face a disciplinary panel hearing in London in December following a brawl outside a nightclub in the southwestern city of Bristol in September 2017.

Stone, 24, is named as the replacement for Liam Plunkett who will miss the first three ODI of the series due to his wedding. Yorkshire all-rounder David Willey was not considered for selection due to a back injury.

Sam Curran, who was England’s Man-of-the-Series in the recently concluded India series has been included alongside elder brother Tom Curran, while left-arm spinner Liam Dwason, whoes only ODI appearence came in 2016, has been recalled as the thirs spinning option alongside Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali.

Mark Wood also returns from injury.
