Manan Vohra, who sliced up 65 runs off 32 balls for Kings XI Punjab in clash against Northern Knights  in the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2014 match said that he practiced the short ball before the match.

“My coach Yograj Singh and KXIP coach, Sanjay Bangar sir. They suggested to me that I was attempting to pull deliveries which were not there for the shot. They advised me to use the cut shot or let it go, and I did the same,” said Vohra in an interview with clt20.com.

“I was working on the short pitched delivery because I got out to it twice in the first two games. There were lots of comments after that which really hurt me. That led to a lot of frustration in me and so I just worked on that particular aspect.”

Vohra looked out of sorts in the first two matches. He got out on 18 and 27 in the first two matches.

“There was a lot of frustration after the last two games since I was not able to contribute to the team’s total in a big manner. So I was practicing a lot during the five-day break. I wanted to do it (play a big knock) badly today. I was confident, I backed my instincts and I did so.”
