Cary, North Carolina: West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels has been left out of their 15-man squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against England. The batsman last played for West Indies against Pakistan late in 2016 but was then left out of the squad for the tri-series in Zimbabwe that followed. Samuels, who also bowls part-time off-spin, was cleared by the International Cricket Council to bowl again last week after serving a 12-month ban for an illegal action. He received the ban in December 2015 after picking up two suspensions in two years for the same offence. The 36-year old has played 71 tests and 187 ODIs for West Indies. Earlier, West Indian all-rounder Marlon Samuels was on Thursday cleared to bowl in international cricket after his action was found to be legal, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced. The 36-year-old was last reported for bowling action during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka in October 2015 and was subsequently suspended for 12 months in December 2015 after an independent assessment revealed he had employed an illegal bowling action for the second time in 24 months, reported IANS.
“The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that following remedial work and reassessment, the bowling action of West Indies Marlon Samuels has been found to be legal, and the player can now resume bowling in international cricket,” the ICC said in a statement.
