After registering its lowest turnout Tuesday, the Eden Gardens got its roars back with over 55,000 spectators cheering the Indian team against England in the ground's maiden Twenty20 International Saturday.

After registering its lowest turnout Tuesday, the Eden Gardens got its roars back with over 55,000 spectators cheering the Indian team against England in the ground’s maiden Twenty20 International Saturday.India lost the match.

 

The stadium was abuzz as the spectators, mostly comprising youngsters, lustily cheered every hit by the Indians to the fence. The crowd was cheerful in spite of the hits being few and far between as India were restricted to 120 runs only.

 

The crowd also came alive with every English wicket or mis-hit.

 

Vendors selling flags and vuvuzelas and face painters made brisk business at the stadiums as the cricket buffs bought the wares.

The sound of vuvuzelas coming out from the stadium could be heard far away. (IANS)
