Imad Wasim: When I went, Rashid was bowling brilliantly. Couldn’t pick him to be honest. Just hung in there. Decided to play fifty overs. He ( Gulbadin Naib) was the only bowler who could’ve been targeted to be honest. Wicket was turning square. They’ve got world class spinners. Plan was to attack when fast bowler comes in. Thanks to the crowd. Feels like home here. Win next game, never know what can happen. Now we believe we can win from anywhere.FOUR! Imad Wasim has done it for Pakistan. Pakistan have edged out Afghanistan in a thriller. Their hopes of reaching the semifinals are alive.
Sloppy! So sloppy. Naib messes it up. Afghanistan miss a run out and Pakistan rush back for two.
SIX! Into the stands. Wahab, broken finger be damned, seems to be the mood. Rashid bowls one into the slot and Wahab sends it into the stands.
Excellent over from Mujeeb. Just two runs in the over. Pakistan need 16 off 12 balls.
FOUR! SHOT! Full from Rashid and Wahab creams one through the covers.
OUT! It is not over yet, it is not over! Shadab is run out as soon as he and Imad complete 50-run stand.
FOUR! Edge, streaky! Does not matter for Pakistan. Rashid draws an edge off Shadab.
FOUR! This time he hammers it. Imad has turned it on. Naib concedes 16 in on first five balls in the over.
FOUR! Edge and four! Imad will take this, Pakistan will take this. Afghanistan are losing the plot or is there another twist left?
Imad is keeping Pakistan alive. He has settled down after that difficult start.
AFG vs PAK live score: Pakistan 169/6 after 42 overs: Pakistan will need Imad and Shadab to find ways to get them across the finish line. A win here Pakistan’s hopes alive, a defeat, means, it will become difficult to reach semis.

Imad Wasim: It does feel like a home game the crowd are supporting us. Whatever the captain tells me, I try to execute and if I bowl well and if I stick to team’s plans it does not matter to me and I think I was lucky to get two wickets today. In the powerplays I bowl differently and after that I think there was a bit of moisture in the track. We tried to push it slow and later on it was skidding nicely. If you bowl slow you will get grip on this wicket. Earlier on with the moisture it could skid a bit. We should be chasing this comfortably, if we don’t give them wickets early on, we can seal this game.
Shaheen Shah Afridi scalps four wickets while Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim get two wickets each as Pakistan limit Afghanistan to 227/9.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Match 36 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Afghanistan and Pakistan at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday.
AFG vs PAK Match Preview
Riding high on confidence after two back-to-back wins, Pakistan will look to carry on the winning momentum when they face Afghanistan in their crucial World Cup encounter at Headingley on Saturday.
A win against Afghanistan will keep Pakistan in the hunt for the semifinal race. With seven points from seven games, Pakistan need to win both their remaining matches and hope for favourable results in matches of other teams too to make it to the top four by the end of the tournament.
After their defeat to India, the Green Brigade had to face harsh criticism, both from fans and former cricketers. However, they kept aside all those negativeness and registered thumping wins over South Africa and New Zealand.
Their last win against the Black Caps would have bolstered their confidence immensely, considering the kind of performance they came out with against the Kiwis who were one of the two unbeaten sides in the tournament till then.
