Australian selectors have named young wicket keeper Matthew Wade in the Australia’s T20 team.

Wade is one of the three uncapped players included in the 14-man squad for the T20 team.

Wade is appointed wicket keeper of the team ahead of Tim Paine who was his competitor for the Keeper’s position. Paine was in the reckoning after senior wicket keeper Brad Haddin announced his retirement from the shorter format.

But due to a recurring finger injury Paine lessened the glove man’s chances of getting the job.

Wade felt sorry for his childhood mate Paine. He said, “Unfortunately he is going to go for another operation but I am not going to say no to this opportunity.”

“I will be doing all I can to do my best so I get more opportunities.”

Wade added the opportunity handed over to him would not affect his relationship with his friend. “We grew up in the same suburb in Hobart so I know him very well,” Wade was quoted in Wide World of Sports.
