At the conclusion of an emotional Test match between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval, which was played with the unfortunate death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes still looming in the background, the Australian captain, Michael Clarke reminisced about the day Hughes wore his jersey number; 389, as he, Clarke himself wore Hughes’ jersey number 408 as a tribute to his late friend, on the last day of the Adelaide Test, which Australia won. Clarke wrote on his Instagram profile ” On this day you wore my number #389, today i wore yours #408. I hope i did you proud bro.”

Phillip Hughes had died as a result of a freak accident, after being hit on the head by a bouncer in a Sheffield Shield Match. A lot of the Australian players who were close to Hughes were on the field when the incident occurred. Michael Clarke who was closest to Hughes has been deeply affected ever since.
