Australian captain Michael Clarke has hailed all-rounder James Faulkner as the team’s ‘new Michael Bevan’ following his match-winning innings at the Gabba in the second One-Day International (ODI) against England on Friday.
Left with No 11 Clint McKay for company and 57 runs still needed, Faulkner (69 not out) hit 12 from the final over and calmly closed out the match to leave England shattered by taking Australia to a victory.

However, News.com.au reports that although the Bevan baton has passed on from Michael Hussey to Faulkner, the young all-rounder has a very different game compared to Bevan. The report mentioned that while Faulkner is a bowling all-rounder, Bevan was a part-time bowler at best even if he could send down handy left-arm unorthodox spin, adding that both of their batting styles are equally dissimilar.
