Michael Hussey, who retired from Test cricket recently, was disappointed with the selectors not selecting him for the ODI series against Sri Lanka and West Indies.
Hussey was looking forward to play his last ODI series at home before calling it a day from all forms of cricket. However, with the national selectors already geared up to shape the team for the 2015 World Cup left out the 37-year old in-form veteran.
“I’m disappointed not to be playing in the one-dayers because that was my plan,” Hussey was quoted as saying by FOX Sports.
“But I understand what the selectors are trying to do. They’re trying to build for the 2015 World Cup and I’ll get over it I guess.”
Although Hussey’s axing comes as good news for the Perth Scorchers, who will be looking forward to getting the southpaw back for Wednesday’s Big Bash League semi-final against the Melbourne Stars at WACA.
“I just want to come in and do whatever role the Scorchers need me to do. I don’t want any other agendas,” added Hussey.
Hussey’s return will put Scorchers coach Justin Langer in confusion about who to left out from his in-form team.
Marcus North might have to give away to make Hussey return. However, if Hussey is taken as a wicketkeeper then Tom Triffitt will have to make way.
