Openers Michael Price and Davy Jacobs scored centuries Saturday to put Warriors in a strong position against title holders Titans after three days of a South African Series match.
The centurions helped Warriors to 353-5 declared in Port Elizabeth and Titans were struggling at 40-3 by the close — 373 runs behind with seven wickets remaining.
Price (105) spent 271 minutes at the crease and hit eight fours off 186 balls while skipper Jacobs (103) was out in the middle for 313 minutes and claimed four fours off 240 deliveries.
Both eventually fell victim to CJ de Villiers (2-31) with Price trapped leg before and Jacobs caught by wicketkeeper Heino Kuhn at Saint George’s Park, and there were also two wickets for Roelof van der Merwe (2-50).
Dolphins need 92 runs with six wickets remaining to defeat the Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg after reaching 149-4 at stumps with Jonathan Vandiar (62) leading the run chase and Chris Morris (4-30) impressive with the ball.
The Lions made 238 in their second innings thanks mainly to opener and skipper Stephen Cook (92) and Neil McKenzie (41) while Craig Alexander (4-71) and Dane Paterson (3-51) were the chief wicket takers.
No play was possible for a third consecutive day at Boland Park in western Cape town Paarl due to a waterlogged pitch, forcing the fixture between the Cobras and the Knights to be abandoned.(AFP)
