In a lighthearted jab, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer ridiculed former England player Michael Vaughan. The Rohit Sharma-led team just lost the ODI series 2-0 after collapsing against Sri Lanka’s spinners. Asking Jaffer on India’s recent performance in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Vaughan poked fun at him during a Q&A on X. “Hello, Wasim. What was the latest outcome of the ODI series in Sri Lanka? I missed it because I was out of town. Hope everything is good,” Jaffer posted on X.
In response to Vaughan, Wasim mentioned England’s history in the Ashes, where the Three Lions were last successful in 2015.
“I’ll put it in Ashes terms for you Michael. Ind won as many games in that series as the Tests Eng have won in Aus in last 12 years,” Jaffer wrote on X.

Although Jaffer had previously said that he was not concerned by India’s series loss, the fact that there are only three ODIs remaining until the ICC Champions Trophy, which is slated for the following year, worries him.
In the third One-Day International (ODI) of the series, Sri Lanka defeated India by 110 runs on Wednesday at the R Premadasa Stadium thanks to innings of 96 runs from Avishka Fernando and five wickets from Dunith Wellalage.
This was India’s first ODI assignment since their devastating home loss to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup final in November of last year. Additionally, this was their first series leading up to the Champions Trophy, which will take place in Pakistan the following year.
India’s next ODI assignment is a three-match home series against England in February of the following year.
“Wins and losses are part of the game. However, it’s a point of concern that India has just 3 ODIs before the Champions Trophy,” Jaffer wrote on X.
Before taking on their next ODI series, India will engage in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
