Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has made an outlandish promise ahead of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, stating that he will go naked if the allrounder Jofra Archer is not selected by hosts England for this summer’s mega-event.
Barbados-born Archer, 24 was on Wednesday named for the first time in an England squad after becoming eligible last month to represent the country. The England selectors picked him in the ODI and T20I squads to play Ireland and Pakistan, but not in their provisional World Cup pool of 15.
So far this IPL season, Archer has taken ten wickets in eight games with an economy of 6.77 and scored 40 runs in four innings at a strike-rate of 142.85.
Vaughan, the former England captain, has never shied away from tweeting his views and has often copped flack for his comments. True to form, he tweeted on Thursday that if Archer does not get selected in England’s World Cup squad, he will strip off his clothes.

Vaughan’s tweet is reminiscent of former England football star Gary Lineker, who in December 2015 promised to present the BBC show Match of the Day completely naked if Leicester City managed to retain their English Premier League title after a slot start. The Foxes defied the odds that season and won the EPL, despite being 5000/1 outsiders when the competition started.
After Leicester’s epic victory, Lineker kept his word and presented Match of the Day in his underwear.
Will Vaughan be forced to do the same? Time will tell.
