United skipper Misbah-ul-Haq played a superb knock, finishing with an unbeaten 37-ball 82. Misbah struck 4 sixes and a four off the final over from Ashley Caddy to ensure that his side got a mammoth score on the board. Earlier, he was later supported by Munir Dar and Tanwir Afzal. United scored 66 off the final 4 overs, which took their total to 216 for 6 in their 20 overs. Considering the dimensions of the ground here, Jaguars would have felt that they could chase it down with some powerful hitters in their line-up.

Jaguars, in their chase, lost wickets at regular intervals. However, the partnership between James Franklin and Jonathan Foo kept them in the game. They added 62 in quick time and the Jaguars had a glimmer of hope. But after Franklin departed, Jaguars lost Darren Sammy for 13 and Johan Botha for 12, which put a lot of pressure on Foo to take his side home. Foo brought up his fifty off just 35 balls. With over 40 needed off the final two overs, Foo went for a risky shot and was picked up by Saeed Ajmal for a well made 77 off 47. With 36 required off the final over, Jaguars could not get over the line giving United a thumping win.

Brief scores:

Hong Kong Island United 216 for 6 in 20 overs (Misbah-ul-Haq 82*, Munir Dar 42; Mohammad Naveed 2 for 29, James Franklin 1 for 27) beat Hung Hom JD Jaguars 183 for 8 in 20 overs (Nizakat Khan 34, Jonathan Foo 77; Saeed Ajmal 2 for 25, Kyle Christie 2 for 27) by 33 runs.
