Australia‘s former paceman Mitchell Johnson has hosed down the prospect of making a return to the national team, saying he is enjoying his time in domestic cricket. Johnson has been in impressive form for the Perth Scorchers in his first Big Bash League (BBL) campaign, snaring 12 wickets in 8 matches to lead the Scorchers to their 5th final in 6 years. When asked after the match whether he would consider a return to the Australian T20I team, Johnson said that the current players in the squad are playing better cricket than him before adding that he doesn’t want to make a comeback.

“I don’t think I want to play to be honest. I don’t think it would be as enjoyable for me. I’ve had my moment in the sun, and that’s done and dusted. These young guys are still playing better cricket than I am,” said Johnson as quoted by Sport24. The BBL 2016-17 final is slated to be held at Perth on Saturday. At the moment, Brisbane Heats is fighting against Sydney Sixers for a place in the final with Scorchers already confirmed a place. In the first semi-final between Scorchers and Melbourne Stars, Stars were thrashed by 7 wickets after which their skipper, David Hussey, called it quits from international cricket. Australian coach Darren Lehmann feels Melbourne Stars’ batsman Kevin Pietersen should be dumped

Talks of international cricket aroused after Johnson’s fiery spell in BBL 2016-17. He finished with a breathtaking spell of 4-2-3-3 against Stars to take Scorchers to the summit clash.
