Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and uncapped bowler John Hastings have been brought into the Australian squad as cover for Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus for the final Test between Australia and South Africa at Perth.

After a physically and mentally draining draw at Adelaide, where Siddle and Hilfenhaus bowled more than 117 overs between them in Adelaide, Cricket Australia have made sure they have enough back-up for the crucial test at Perth.

New South Wales left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc is set to replace James Pattinson who is out with a side strain. Siddle who took four for 65 in the second innings looked completely broken towards the dying stages of the fifth day’s play in the Adelaide Test as he struggled to get through the final overs.

“Hilfy and Sids have had a really heavy workload of bowling a hell of a lot in the last couple of weeks in both Test matches. I think we need that option once we get to Perth to see how the boys pull up,” Captain Michael Clarke was quoted saying by theage.com.au. He also announced that Watson will take Quiney’s place in the final Test.
