Mitchell Marsh has played a fantastic hand in the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and India. In the process he has registered his maiden ODI hundred. The innings was really well composed and came at a time when Australia were in a very precarious position. He started his innings on a cautious note with Australia having been 117 for four, but he settled into a fantastic partnership with David Warner and opened up to play some exciting shots as the innings progressed. He muscled balls to all parts of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) but also played some more classic shots. He got to his hundred in just 81 balls. He showed good awareness of the situation and in the process he has taken Australia from a seemingly troubling position to an imposing first innings total. Even Warner, who partnered Mitchell for a a big partnership earlier, scored a fine century before getting dismissed for 122 at a strike rate comfortably over 100. Australia’s score in now well over the 300-run mark in the process. Live Cricket Blog: India vs Australia 2015-16, 5th ODI at Sydney
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bowl first. For most part of the previous game they looked comfortable chasing before being involved in one of the most dramatic collapses in modern times. India will look to keep Australia to a manageable total and then chase it down. Given the trends in this series, they will fancy their chances if they can keep Australia restricted to a score less than 300 or early 300s.
