Mitchell Starc hospitalised after sustaining injury during training

Mitchell Starc played 11 matches across formats in Sri Lanka, picking up 44 wickets along the way at an average of 16.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been hospitalised after sustaining a cut to his leg during a practice session at Sydney. Starc was participating in a training drill and fell awkwardly on his left knee, hitting a piece of the training equipment as well. The medical team immediately rushed to Starc’s aide, after Starc was lying down in discomfort. The injury was deemed serious enough for the medical staff to call an ambulance in and rush the speedster to the nearby hospital. Starc has already been ruled out the series against South Africa, but will play a huge part when the Proteas tour Australia for a Test series after their tour of South Africa, according to cricket.com.au. Starc was the star performer for Australia in the 3-0 whitewash against Sri Lanka in the subcontinent. He also played a key role in the One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) series that followed after that, which was won by Australia in convincing manner. Starc played 11 matches across formats in Sri Lanka, picking up 44 wickets along the way at an average of 16. Starc along with his opening partner Josh Hazlewood have been rested for a month, keeping in mind the grueling series that follow. Australia will take on South Africa and Pakistan in a three-Test series at home.  They will also play Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in limited-overs competitions before heading to India for a four-Test series.
