India Women gained victory purely due to the skipper Mithali Raj leading from front delivering her best by remaining 51 runs not out and India winning by 5 wickets. Sri Lanka Women faced tough time to restrict India on timely basis with Vellaswamy Vanitha going out within 3 overs. It was Inoka Ranaweera who took 3 for 10 delivering her best figures so far in this series. She took the wickets of Vanitha, Deepti Sharma and Veda Krishnamurthy within 3rd to 6th over. Though they could not carry forward the legacy after immense efforts as Anuja Patil came in and started smashing the required boundaries India were waiting for. Anuja was short lived as she was caught and bowled by Eshani Lokusuriyage in the 17th over, which was the last wicket for India. Sri Lanka Women posed a tough competition as they did get 5 wickets on hand. Smriti, Deepti and Veda who are hard hitters could hardly contribute to the runs on board and got out for single digits. It was Mithali and Anuja who secured 50-runs partnership. If India now lead the series by 2-0 and have one final T20I series to be played on Friday at Ranchi itself. Considering these are home conditions, India are comfortable and confident. This will surely enhance India’s performance in the mega event of World Cup.
