India are entering into the final stage of their home international season, as they prepare to take on Sri Lanka for 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is from Thursday. Ahead of the opening Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata hosted Jagmohan Dalmiya Memorial Lecture. Sourav Ganguly promised a good wicket at Eden Gardens and Kapil Dev compared Virat Kohli to Dalmiya, Mohammad Azharuddin sounded optimistic about India’s chances against Sri Lanka. However, he also asserted that India’s real test will come in January 2018 when they travel to South Africa for a complete tour: “The Sri Lanka series will be a good one, but India’s real test will be against South Africa. Kohli is outstanding. The way he leading from the front is good to see.”
