There has been much speculations regarding the post of India‘s head coach which is vacant for a considerable amount of time now and now former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has said, according to him, no former India player is suitable for the coveted role. Rahul Dravid was initially offered to take the charges to guide India’s national cricket team becoming the coach. But since he turned the offer down, Azharuddin feels there is no one else who can do justice to the duties that the team’s head coach will be given and will be expected to execute with the best possible outcome. Talking to Cricbuzz, Azharuddin said, “Nowadays everyone looks to have foreign coaches in whatever sport you can name. I have a strong feeling that the future India coach will be a foreigner. From India I really doubt anybody will be given that opportunity, I don’t see anyone good for that role (after Rahul Dravid declined the offer).”

Recently it was reported that India’s Test skipper has suggested his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach and former New Zealand player Daniel Vettori’s name for the role of Team India’s coach and Azharuddin supported the idea.

“If India captain (Virat) says (Daniel) Vettori is the right candidate for the job, then I think I will go with him. In future I see Virat as someone who would be captaining in all the three formats and I guess everyone agrees with that, with the kind of form he is in right now.”
