Mohammad Shahzad is all set to make a comeback in ODI’s after serving a suspension period of one year. He was suspended for doping violation as he played his last ODI in March last year. Along with Shahzad, Mujeeb Zadran has been included in the squad.
Zadran was one of Afghanistan’s main bowler in the Under-19 World Cup 2018 and has impressed everyone with his skills in the three matches he played. He was even picked by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2018 auction.
Amir Hamza and Hamid Hassan have been dropped out of the side. The rest of the squad includes Asghar Stanikzai along with Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Samiullah Shenwari, Dawlat Zadran and Shapoor.
Afghanistan will look to end in the top two spot in the World Cup 2018 qualifier to play for World Cup 2019, England. They will have to compete against big teams like West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland. The other members are Netherlands, Scotland, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea.
Afghanistan play their opening match on March 4 against Scotland in Bulawayo. The final of the tournament will be played on March 25 in Harare. Shahzad will also feature in today’s T20I against Zimbabwe.
