Monty Panesar, the England left-arm spinner has now signed up with Essex after being released by Sussex. Panesar has been in the news recently for unrinating on bouncers at a club.

The Essex cricket team’s official website states that, “Panesar will join the Club on loan from Sussex and is available for the six LV County Championship matches, starting with the Colchester Cricket Festival, which begins on Tuesday 20th August at Castle Park versus Northamptonshire.”

“Monty Panesar will come in to the squad to replace Tom Craddock who looks set to miss the remainder of the season for personal reasons,”

Essex coach Paul Grayson said that Essex were delighted to have him in the team.

“We are delighted to welcome Monty to the Club for the remainder of the season. He is a world-class spinner and we are confident that he will have a positive impact on the team. He will join us from today and will hopefully be playing tomorrow at 11am against Northants,” said Grayson.

Sussex chief executive Zac Toumazi hoped that Panesar will get a chance to re-establish himself.

“Clearly this season has been a very difficult time for Monty. This will give him every opportunity to put his personal and professional life back on track,” Toumazi was quoted as saying by BBC.

Panesar is Essex’s second signing this season after they roped in the services of Indian opener Gautam Gambhir earlier in the month.
