Dhaka Dynamites‘ middle-order batsman Mosaddek Hossain Saikat played a stellar innings, as his crucial 59 helped and allowed Dhaka to post an average total of 138 for the loss of five wickets vs Rajshahi Kings, in Match 7 of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Saturday. Apart from Saikat, no other batsman could make as good impact as him. As for Rajshahi, Mehedi Hasan and Samit Patel claimed a couple of wickets each for 22 and 20, respectively, as they have been given a relatively easy target to chase down, and also have the proper ammunition in the side to do it. Earlier, Rajshahi skipper Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bat first, as they were off to a slow and poor start, as they lost their opening wicket in the form of Kumar Sangakkara for a mere couple to Mehedi Hasan in the second over, followed by the wicket of his fellow Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene, who fell just 30 runs later for mere 11 to Samit Patel, after being caught by F Reza in the seventh over, as the same over also saw the dismissal of opener Mehedi Maruf for 25, while their woes continued.
In the eighth over, it was their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who fell for an unfortunate duck to Mehedi, after being stumped by Nurul at the same score of 43. However it was followed by a 54-run stand between Saikat and Ravi Bopara, before Bopara fell in the 16th over for 20, Abul Hasan, after being caught by Samit, at the score of 97, while it was the final pair of Saikat and skipper Sammy, who batted out until the end to post the average total of 138 for the loss of five, in a slow match. It was in the meantime, that Saikat scored his half-century off 42 deliveries, that included six boundaries, and a six, along with a strike rate of 128.
