Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni created history on Sunday when he completed his 200th dismissal in Tests on the opening day of the first Test against West Indies at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Dhoni first stumped opener Kraigg Brathwaite off Pragyan Ojha to bag his 199th victim in his 62nd Test match — one more than Syed Kirmani, who represented India in 88 Tests.

Dhoni achieved the feat when he caught West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels off Ravichandran Ashwin to become India’s leading wicketkeeper with 200 dismissals in Test cricket.

With this dismissal, Dhoni recorded overall 174 catches and 26 stumping from 62 Tests. He is at the 13th spot in overall dismissals in the longest format of the game.

South Africa’s Mark Boucher is the leading wicketkeeper with most dismissals – 521 overall with 499 catches and 22 stumping.
