Sushant Singh Rajput was seen practicing a few shots in the nets as a part of his training regime for his role as MS Dhoni in the Indian limited-overs captain’s upcoming biopic. Rajput was seen sporting Dhoni’s old long-haired look while practising some of his signature shots, including the much talked-about helicopter shot, during the session in which tennis balls were apparently used. Among the other latest developments to take place in the upcoming film is the confirmation of Herry Tangri, who has bagged the role of Yuvraj Singh in the film which will commence its second phase of shooting in January.

The biopic, the original release date of which was supposed to be on October 22 earlier this year, is expected to release in sometime in 2016, with the exact release date yet to be disclosed. The Neeraj Pandey-directed film will star Anupam Kher as Pan Singh Dhoni (the cricketer’s father), with Kiara Advani taking up the role of Dhoni’s wife Sakshi. Rajput has admittedly been a major fan of the sport since his childhood days and had starred in “Kai Po Che”, another film with cricket as one of its central themes.

The actor has been going through a rigorous regime in order to prepare himself for the role, including training by former India wicketkeeper Kiran More. Rajput has also had sessions in the nets with Dhoni himself, who is said to have helped him perfect his mannerisms and shots. During one of the sessions, Rajput had injured himself while practising the helicopter shot.
