India‘s limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 34th birthday on Tuesday. Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket after the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, continues to lead India in the other formats. While there are no doubts that Dhoni has been India’s most successful captain in their cricket history, the wicketkeeper-batsman has had his share of criticism, which never ceases for him. Despite taking India to the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 after a poor tour of Australia, which includes the horrendous triangular series, Dhoni copped lot of flak after the team’s loss to the eventual winners Australia.
Dhoni has given up the Test captaincy in a bid to prolong his Test career, and it is likely that he will continue to bat at No. 4 in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 cricket, which began in the forgettable tour of Bangladesh.
