MS Dhoni might be fit to play in the final of the Caribbean tri-series if India manage to qualify for the match on July 11.
India’s stand-in captain Virat Kohli hinted that Dhoni is gearing towards full fitness and he might be fit, reports NDTV. Dhoni suffered a hamstring injury during India’s first match against West Indies and was ruled out for the whole series. Ambati Rayudu was called in the squad as replacement.
“Dhoni is getting better and he may be fit for the final,” Kohli said during the toss on Tuesday against Sri Lanka at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and sent India into bat in the sixth and last match of the tri-series. A victory will send India into the final. Sri Lanka are comfortable as they have more or less confirmed their berth in the final. Meanwhile, West Indies can do nothing but watch this contest and hope Sri Lanka does the trick for them.
