Indian skipper MS Dhoni scripts history in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between Australia and India at Melbourne on Friday as he surpassed Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara to register most stumpings in international cricket. Sangakkara had 139 stumping in international cricket across formats and Dhoni bettered this record when James Faulkner was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Faulkner missed one completely which struck Dhoni on his legs and disturbed the stumps while the former was still out of his batting crease. This was Dhoni’s 140th stumping as he now holds the record for most stumpings in international cricket. Dhoni has been instrumental behind the stumps and his lightening quick reflexes has earned him accolades across the globe. With this scalp, Australia find themselves in all sorts of trouble as they are placed at 137 for the loss of six wickets in 17 overs. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja took a spectacular catch to get rid of Shane Watson during the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between Australia and India at Melbourne on Friday. The game was evenly poised as Australia were 121 for the loss of three wickets inside 15 overs. Watson looked good and was scoring runs from the start at Melbourne. In an attempt to break the shackles Watson played a fiery straight drive towards Jadeja which travelled like a tracer bullet. Jadeja held on to his nerves and focused like a hawk to cup a magnificent catch. This effort stunned everyone including Watson himself who gave an animated look to this.
Aaron Finch scored a 27-ball half-century to get Australia off to a good start in their chase of 185. After he and Shaun Marsh put on 94 inside 10 overs before the latter hit Ravichandran Ashwin to Hardik Pandya. Chris Lynn was out soon thereafter, edging Pandya to MS Dhoni. Australia won the toss and put India in to bat. The hosts made as many as six changes to their side from the team that lost the first T20I against India at Adelaide. Rohit Sharma scored 60, Virat Kohli made 59 not out, and Shikhar Dhawan scored 42 to give India an excellent platform. MS Dhoni played a couple of good shots but was dismissed in the final over of the innings.
